Motorized brush bar

The latest Dyson Animal machines use a motorized brush bar, with bristles that spin at up to 90 times per second to agitate the pile and remove dirt and pet hair from carpets. The brush bar can be turned off to protect delicate rugs and hard floors.

HEPA Filter

Dyson upright and cylinder vacuums have a sealed HEPA (High-efficiency Particle Airflow) filter to capture particles as small as 0.1 microns. That’s equivalent to a single particle of cigarette smoke.

Asthma & allergy friendly™

Dyson upright vacuums meet or exceed standards for effectively removing allergen-containing dust from carpets, and are the first to be certified asthma and allergy friendly™ by the Asthma Society of Canada.

Dyson microbiology lab

Dyson has its own microbiology lab at its Research, Design and Development centre in the United Kingdom.

At the lab, Dyson scientists study household dust and dirt in all its forms. A lot of the work they do involves house dust mites (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus), one of the most common triggers of asthma and allergies. They keep them in colonies under ideal temperature conditions (25°C and 75% relative humidity), feeding them a ground-up mixture of wheat germ and dog biscuits. The research conducted in our lab leads to new and better ways of removing them.

Dyson is thought to be the only appliance manufacturer in Europe (possibly the world) to have its own in-house microbiology lab.
